A family-owned and operated museum dedicated to the life and times of Munshi Aziz Bhat route pioneer trader, sarai fonder, collector, patriot, husband, and father.
The artifacts narrate the story of the silk route trade culture and give an insight into a time period when international trade was carried out on horses and on foot across the deserts and mountains of central Asia and across the seas of the Americas and Europe.
The artifacts range from day to day household items, coins and currencies, jewellery, carpets, hosiery, utensils, clothing items, armoury to paintings and manuscripts. The gallery will give you a glimpse of the treasure trove from that silk route era. Visit us to explore the complete range of artifacts.
The museum is located at our residence at Munshi Grong, overlooking the Kargil town. Tiled steps lead up from a winding road to the hilltop Museum, offering breathtaking views of snow-covered mountains and the swift-flowing snow-fed Suru river which winds through the town.
